First upper limits on neutrino electromagnetic properties from the CONUS experiment

چکیده
We report first constraints on neutrino electromagnetic properties from neutrino-electron scattering using data obtained the CONUS germanium detectors, i.e. an upper limit effective magnetic moment and millicharge. The electron antineutrinos are emitted 3.9 GW$_\mathrm{th}$ reactor core of Brokdorf nuclear power plant in Germany. low background detectors positioned at 17.1 m distance center. analyzed set includes 689.1 kg$\cdot$d collected during ON periods 131.0 OFF energy range 2 to 8 keV$_{ee}$. With current statistics, we able determine $\mu_\nu < 7.5\cdot10^{-11}\,\mu_B$ 90% confidence level. From this can derive bound millicharge $\vert q_{\nu}\vert 3.3\cdot10^{-12}\,e_0$.

Upper limits on neutrino masses from cosmology
The latest results from the WMAP satellite [1] confirm the success of the ΛCDM model, where ∼ 75 % of the mass-energy density is in the form of dark energy, with matter, most of it in the form of cold dark matter (CDM) making up the remaining 25 % . Neutrinos with masses on the eV scale or below will be a hot component of the dark matter and will free-stream out of overdensities and thus wipe o...
متن کاملFirst limits on WIMP dark matter from the XENON10 experiment
XENON10 is a dual phase liquid/gas xenon Time Projection Chamber (TPC) for the direct search of Weakly Interacting Massive Particle (WIMP) Dark Matter (DM). The detector, located in the Gran Sasso National Laboratory in Italy, aims at measuring the recoil energy from elastic WIMP-nucleus scattering. It distinguishes electronic interactions (gamma and beta backgrounds) from nuclear recoils based...
متن کاملFirst upper limits from LIGO on gravitational wave bursts
We report on a search for gravitational wave bursts using data from the first science run of the LIGO detectors. We focus on bursts with durations ranging from 4 msec to 100 msec, and with significant power in the LIGO sensitivity band of 150 to 3000 Hz. We bound the rate for such detected bursts at less than 1.6 events per day at 90% confidence level. This result is interpreted in terms of the...
متن کاملUpper limits on the diffuse supernova neutrino flux from the SuperKamiokande data
We analyze the 1496 days of SuperKamiokande data to put limits on the νe, ν̄e, νμ + ντ and ν̄μ + ν̄τ components of the diffuse flux of supernova neutrinos, in different energy intervals and for different neutrino energy spectra. By considering the presence of only one component at a time, we find the following bounds at 90% C.L. and for neutrino energy E > 19.3 MeV: Φνe < 73.3 − 154 cm−2s−1, Φν̄e <...
متن کاملUpper limits on neutrino masses from the 2dFGRS and WMAP: the role of priors
Solar, atmospheric, and reactor neutrino experiments have confirmed neutrino oscillations, implying that neutrinos have non-zero mass, but without pinning down their absolute masses. While it is established that the effect of neutrinos on the evolution of cosmic structure is small, the upper limits derived from large-scale structure could help significantly to constrain the absolute scale of th...
